Edición de la versión de Jarvis, cuidadosamente corregida en vista de las publicadas por la Academia Española, de cuyas primeras ediciones se tomaron la Vida de Cervantes, escrita por Vicente de los Ríos, el plan cronológico de éste, y el mapa de los lugares por donde anduvo D. Quijote. El retrato de Cervantes es copia del que llevan las ediciones de la Academia Española; algunas láminas son copias de la edición grande de la mencionada Academia y otras, dibujadas por Stothard, etc. Estas últimas adolecen del defecto propio de las ilustraciones extranjeras mostrando un Quijote inglés en un ambiente británico.
